Welcome

For over the past 50 years the European Union has been promoting its values of democracy, human rights and rule of law. I would like to welcome you to Cyprus EU Association where these values are shared, supported and promoted in Cyprus.

European Union is based on social market economy where social rights of workers, efficiency based on an environmental friendly structure and fair revenue distribution are safeguarded. Collective production, solidarity, supporting underdeveloped regions and unity in diversity are also among the values of the EU. The Cyprus EU Association shares all these values.

First seeds of the European Union were planted with economic integration of the States that had been fighting with each other for centuries. The European Project then started to develop political cooperation through which sustainable peace is achieved. Taking this as an example, Cyprus EU Association believes that Turkish Cypriots should be living in an EU member reunified Cyprus where their rights will be thoroughly safeguarded.

Cyprus EU Association was founded in order to help establish a structure in Cyprus where democracy prevails and universal human rights, entrepreneurship and freedom of speech are safeguarded. KAB believes that such a structure can only be viable with a State dealing only with its main responsibilities, with rule of law and with a democratic civil society. Cyprus EU Association works towards establishing such a structure.

KAB, believes that accessing correct information is crucial for Turkish Cypriots’ communal existence on the island. Cyprus EU Association organizes various informative meetings, seminars and visits, publishes documents and prepares projects to this end.

Similarly promoting and safeguarding the rights and interests of Turkish Cypriots and lobbying to the EU to have these rights protected are among the responsibilities of KAB. We are in constant contact with EU Institutions and with Cyprus Embassies of the Member States and have an established two-way communication channel with them.

Cyprus EU Association believes that sustainable peace in Cyprus can only be reached through a comprehensive settlement based on an EU member bi-communal, bi-zonal State, where political equality is safeguarded. KAB aims to contribute reaching such a settlement by its analysis of developments, proposals, roadmaps, action plans and takes part in any other work undertaken with the same objective.

If you are among those that believe in the EU and its role in building sustainable peace in the island, if you are also urged by the deadlock on the island and would like to contribute to reaching the abovementioned objectives, we would be delighted to have you join us.
