BI-COMMUNAL GROUP MEETS IN BRUSSELS
Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung announces that upon its invitation, a bi-communal group of Cypriots, active members of the Cypriot civil society, met in Brussels on the 17th and 18th of April and exchanged views on the present state of the Cyprus problem.
The group had the opportunity to discuss various issues relating to Cyprus with members of the European Parliament and the European Commission.
Inputs to the event and reflections to discussion points were offered by the Members of the European Parliament Mechtild Rothe, Hannes Swoboda and Kyriakos Triantafyllides as well as by Georg Ziegler the Deputy Head of Task Force Turkish Cypriot Community in DG Enlargement.
The team consisting of Akinci Mustafa, Durduran Alpay, Erel Ali, Erk Kutlay, Hadjidemetriou Takis, Hatdjipavlou Maria, Ioannou Ioannis, Papapetrou Michalis, Pophaides Zenon, Sozen Ahmet, Stylianides Christos, and Tringides Alecos concluded with a brain storming discussion facilitated by the journalist Niels Kadrietzke in detection of break through ideas for the solution of the Cyprus problem. FES officials Delenikas Andreas, Duncke Hans and Stetter Ernst hosted the event towards a successful conclusion.
